COVID-19 Update

We at Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry are so very happy to be able to reopen our doors with the Executive Order from Governor Scott now lifted allowing dental practices to resume care. We have missed our dental kids so much and cannot wait to welcome you back into our dental home.

These past few months have created so many changes for all. For us, it has consisted of countless webinars, incessant reviews of guidelines which changed so frequently, and exploration of environmental controls to help improve our care in the new world. All of us in this new world have and continue to experience challenges to our daily routines. We will continue to strive to provide the highest standard of care and dental experiences that we can, but it may look and feel a bit different than before.

Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry is determined and committed to providing a safe environment for you and our staff.

We have followed guidelines and recommendations from the American Dental Association (ADA), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), The Vermont Board of Health, and finally The Vermont State Dental Society (VSDS) on which Dr. Rayes served on the emergency response Executive Committee.

These guidelines and recommendations continue to change and be adjusted as new information is released and we are in continual review and making adjustments as they become necessary.

What are we doing to provide care in the post-COVID 19 period?

  • We have installed building-wide HEPA filtration that exceeds Merv 16 standards (we are able to filter to .01 microns) on both air handling units.
  • We have installed UVC ultraviolet germicidal lights in both air handlers that kills bacteria, mold and viruses.
  • We have imported special filtration units from Switzerland that will be chairside for all hygiene and operative procedures. These units filter down to .001 microns.
  • We are converting 4 operatories to negative pressure isolation rooms for treatments. This will allow us to have the highest level of infection control for all procedures.
  • The HVAC system in the building has been reoriented to provide one way air flow

These new air control measure will filter, sterilize and provide at least 10 air exchanges per hour.

  • All treatment areas are well beyond the 6 foot recommended spacing, and all hygiene bays have walls that separate them. We will be using every other hygiene bay to increase distances even more, and all other operatories are closed door and isolated.
  • The waiting room has 3 distinct areas that are marked 1, 2 and 3. These will far exceed the required social separation distances and each area has a source and return air vent that goes through our filtration units.

What to expect when you come to your appointments:

Due to the necessity to follow the aforementioned guidelines, the times and procedures for appointments have changed. We will not have the flexibility that we have in the past with appointment times in the interest of social isolation. We are forced to adjust existing appointments as well. Thank you in advance for your kind patience and understanding.

We will be contacting you ahead of your appointment to ask screening questions. Please understand that we will ask you to reschedule if your child has any symptoms of illness.

  1. You will notice a sign on the door asking you to wait in your car until we are prepared to bring you in for your appointment. Once you arrive, please call our front desk at (802) 649-5210. If you arrive on public transportation, we will advise you of which waiting area to occupy as you wait for your appointment.
  2. We ask that 1 parent or guardian accompanies your child. Please do not bring other children with you unless they are scheduled at the same time.
  3. Your child’s temperature along with that of their guardian will be taken in the entryway prior to entering the clinic, and you will be asked to respond to screening questions again prior to entering.
  4. We have a sanitation station that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also be asked to use hand sanitizer upon departure from your appointment.
  5. Sadly, we have had to remove magazines, children’s toys and other items as per recommendations and guidelines.
  6. Anyone entering the office must wear a mask. Please bring a mask for yourself and your child.
  7. The new environmental controls create a lot of airflow. Please consider bringing a sweater or jacket for your child.

We cannot express how excited we are to be able to see you all once again. Likewise, it is hard to express how much we have missed the smiles, laughs, and creative activity we were so used to seeing on a daily basis. This building has been sad and lonely without your presence.

Please call our office with any questions at (802) 649-5210.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rayes, Dr. Davis and the Just Kids Pediatric Dental Family
